Matteo Bonales, a 23-year-old angler from Ceres, California, caught and released a 9.41-pound smallmouth bass at Idaho's Dworshak Reservoir on October 16. He and his father drove 16 hours for the fishing trip. Using forward-facing sonar, Bonales located the large fish in about 54 feet of water. After weighing the bass on a certified scale, they released it back into the reservoir. This catch could potentially qualify for a catch-and-release record.
