A murder at a village fair in Muzaffarpur on Sunday, following a dispute, triggered retaliatory violence. The victim, Navneet Kumar, was allegedly beaten and stabbed after an argument escalated. His body's arrival in his village on Sunday morning led to an angry mob setting fire to over half a dozen houses belonging to the accused. Tensions were reportedly heightened due to the differing castes of the deceased and the accused. Police have deployed additional forces and warned against taking the law into one's own hands.
