Indian Banks See Market Value Decline in Q2, Select Lenders Gain

Indian banks experienced a drop in market capitalisation during the July-September quarter, despite the country's economic growth remaining steady. Major lenders like HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, and State Bank of India saw their market values decrease sequentially. However, Kotak Mahindra Bank was a notable exception, registering a significant gain and overtaking Axis Bank to become India's fourth-largest bank by market value. Other banks like Punjab National Bank and RBL Bank also reported market value increases, while Bank of Baroda, Yes Bank, and Bank of Maharashtra faced declines.
