NIDJAM 2022: Bihar's Grassroots Talent Hunt Shaped Young Athletes' Journeys

Sportstar · sports

The 2022 National Inter District Junior Athletics Meet (NIDJAM) in Bihar served as a massive grassroots talent scouting event, involving athletes from nearly 600 districts. Organised by the Athletics Federation of India, the meet aimed to identify potential rather than just performance. Scouts observed athletes' natural instincts, leading to seven promising individuals being placed under special observation. These young athletes were then guided towards events like combined events, sprints, and horizontal jumps, with Neeraj Chopra's success inspiring many towards sprints and javelin.
