Bengaluru Well Revived by Residents, Holds 43,000 Litres

An old stone well in Bengaluru's Sampangiram Nagar, once choked with plastic and debris, has been revived by residents and civic authorities. The restoration, completed in 2022 by SayTrees Environmental Trust with CSR support, involved a significant cleanup operation to remove muck from nearly 40 feet below ground. The revitalized well can now store over 43,000 litres of water, with residents using approximately 1,000 litres daily. This initiative provides a crucial local water source, especially when corporation supply is irregular, and fosters a closer connection to groundwater resources.

बेंगलुरु के संपंगिरामा नगर में एक पुराना पत्थर का कुआँ, जो कभी प्लास्टिक और कचरे से भरा था, अब लोगों और अधिकारियों की मदद से फिर से चालू हो गया है। SayTrees Environmental Trust ने 2022 में इसे साफ करवाया। करीब 40 फीट नीचे से सारा कीचड़ और कूड़ा निकाला गया। अब यह कुआँ 43,000 लीटर से ज़्यादा पानी जमा कर सकता है। लोग रोज़ाना करीब 1,000 लीटर पानी इस्तेमाल कर रहे हैं। यह पहल पानी की कमी को दूर करने में मदद कर रही है।
