Kolkata Durga Puja Stampede Kills 19; Families to Get ₹25 Lakh, Jobs

A stampede at the Chorbagan Sarbojanin Durga Puja pandal in Kolkata has resulted in 19 deaths and over two dozen injuries. West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced that 17 people died at the scene, with one injured person remaining in critical condition. Families of the deceased will receive ₹25 lakh in compensation and a government job. All injured individuals will have their medical expenses covered by the state, with an additional ₹5 lakh in financial aid for each.

कोलकाता के चोरबगान सर्वजनिन दुर्गा पूजा पंडाल में भगदड़ मचने से 19 लोगों की मौत हो गई और दो दर्जन से ज़्यादा घायल हो गए। पश्चिम बंगाल की मुख्यमंत्री ममता बनर्जी ने घोषणा की कि 17 लोगों की मौके पर ही मौत हो गई, जबकि एक घायल व्यक्ति की हालत गंभीर बनी हुई है। मृतकों के परिवारों को ₹25 लाख का मुआवज़ा और सरकारी नौकरी मिलेगी। सभी घायलों के इलाज का खर्च राज्य सरकार उठाएगी, साथ ही प्रत्येक को ₹5 लाख की अतिरिक्त वित्तीय सहायता भी दी जाएगी।
