Retailers' body warns that new charges on UPI transactions over Rs 2,000 risk pushing India back towards a cash economy. While consumers remain unaffected, merchants will face a 0.4% fee on transactions above Rs 2,000, and a flat Rs 5 for specific sectors. This move, effective October 15, could impact small merchants operating on thin margins. The association plans to discuss this with the NPCI and Ministry of Finance, advocating for a graded fee structure.

रिटेलर्स के संगठन ने चेतावनी दी है कि 2,000 रुपये से ऊपर के UPI ट्रांज़ैक्शन पर लगने वाले नए चार्ज भारत को फिर से कैश वाली अर्थव्यवस्था की ओर धकेल सकते हैं। ग्राहकों पर इसका असर नहीं होगा, लेकिन व्यापारियों को 2,000 रुपये से ज़्यादा के हर ट्रांज़ैक्शन पर 0.4% और कुछ खास सेक्टरों में 5 रुपये का चार्ज देना होगा। 15 अक्टूबर से लागू यह नियम छोटे व्यापारियों के लिए मुश्किल खड़ी कर सकता है।
