Uttar Pradesh Gets 14th Ramsar Site; Mainpuri Now Has Two

Uttar Pradesh has officially designated Sauj Jheel in Mainpuri district as its 14th Ramsar Site, expanding the state's network of internationally recognised wetlands. This designation makes Mainpuri the only district in India with two Ramsar sites, the other being Saman Bird Sanctuary. Ramsar sites are wetlands of international importance, crucial for biodiversity conservation and ecological balance. Sauj Jheel, a shallow lake, supports diverse vegetation and provides vital habitats for species like the Sarus Crane and Greater Spotted Eagle, contributing to ecological connectivity.

उत्तर प्रदेश ने मैनपुरी जिले में सौज झील को आधिकारिक तौर पर अपने 14वें रामसर स्थल के रूप में नामित किया है, जिससे राज्य के अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर मान्यता प्राप्त आर्द्रभूमियों का नेटवर्क बढ़ गया है। इस पदनाम से मैनपुरी भारत का एकमात्र जिला बन गया है जहाँ दो रामसर स्थल हैं, दूसरा समन पक्षी अभयारण्य है। रामसर स्थल अंतरराष्ट्रीय महत्व की आर्द्रभूमियाँ हैं, जो जैव विविधता संरक्षण और पारिस्थितिक संतुलन के लिए महत्वपूर्ण हैं। सौज झील, एक उथली झील, विविध वनस्पतियों का समर्थन करती है और सारस क्रेन और ग्रेटर स्पॉटेड ईगल जैसी प्रजातियों के लिए महत्वपूर्ण आवास प्रदान करती है, जो पारिस्थितिक जुड़ाव में योगदान करती है।
