The Kochi Corporation's plan to build a modern abattoir in Cheranellore has encountered significant obstacles due to local opposition. Protests began during the initial land surveying phase, halting preliminary steps for the project. The corporation intended to relocate the abattoir from Kaloor to Cheranellore, citing high land value and urban congestion issues at the current site. While 1.5 acres are designated for the abattoir, a portion is also allocated for a playground. The existing Kaloor facility lacks modern processing equipment and operates with temporary approval.
