The US is contemplating a 90-day ban on diesel exports to lower fuel prices before midterm elections, though the fuel industry warns this could tighten supplies later. India, however, has affirmed its commitment to honouring existing diesel export contracts, citing strengthened refining capacity. India has become a major global diesel supplier, accounting for about 10% of shipments this year, surpassing Russia. This surge is driven by strong refining capabilities, Russia's export restrictions, and increased refinery runs, with India supplying key markets like Brazil, Africa, Southeast Asia, Turkey, and Europe.
