Panama experienced a fresh 5.5 magnitude earthquake, following powerful twin earthquakes that struck its southern coast. The initial major quake, initially reported as magnitude 8, was revised to 7.7 by the USGS. Multiple aftershocks, including magnitudes 5.8 and 5.2, rattled the country. While no deaths were reported, damage was concentrated in central provinces, with several injuries and structural damage to buildings, including historic churches. Tsunami warnings were issued for several regional coastlines but later lifted.
