Shinde, Thackeray Acquitted in 17-Year-Old Defamation Case

Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde and former CM Uddhav Thackeray have been acquitted by a Kalyan court in a 2009 defamation and election law violation case. The charges related to a manipulated video CD allegedly run during a political rally. The court found the prosecution failed to prove the charges beyond reasonable doubt, citing lack of clear evidence regarding the video's content and tampering. Anand Paranjape and Ramakant Devlekar were also acquitted.
