Patna HC Rules Former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar Entitled To Compensation After 50 Years

The Patna High Court has ruled that former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar is entitled to compensation for land acquired by the Bihar government. The court overturned a district collector's order that had cancelled revenue records related to the 0.56-acre plot in Patna's Fulwari revenue area. The state had acquired the land in 1976 for a drain construction. The court directed that the revenue records be restored in the name of Meira Kumar's mother, Indrani Devi, who had purchased the land in 1965.

पटना हाईकोर्ट ने फैसला सुनाया है कि पूर्व लोकसभा अध्यक्ष मीरा कुमार को बिहार सरकार द्वारा अधिग्रहित भूमि के लिए मुआवजा पाने का हक़ है। कोर्ट ने जिला कलेक्टर के उस आदेश को पलट दिया जिसने पटना के फुलवारी राजस्व क्षेत्र में 0.56 एकड़ ज़मीन से जुड़े राजस्व रिकॉर्ड रद्द कर दिए थे। राज्य ने 1976 में नाला निर्माण के लिए यह ज़मीन अधिग्रहित की थी। कोर्ट ने निर्देश दिया कि मीरा कुमार की माँ, इंद्राणी देवी, जिनके नाम पर 1965 में ज़मीन खरीदी गई थी, उनके नाम पर राजस्व रिकॉर्ड बहाल किए जाएं।
