Delhi HC Questions DDA's 'First Come, First Served' Policy for Ramlila Grounds Allotment

Mint · india

The Delhi High Court has deemed the Delhi Development Authority's (DDA) 'first come, first served' policy for allotting public grounds for events like Ramlila as arbitrary and unacceptable. Justice Amit Mahajan noted that a mechanically determinable policy is not necessarily reasonable or in line with public policy. The court highlighted that such a system can create unequal opportunities, especially when booking processes and criteria are not publicly disclosed in advance. This ruling came while hearing a plea challenging the rejection of an application for a ground in Raja Garden.
