The DMK has petitioned the Chief Electoral Officer seeking an urgent inquiry into alleged election expenditure cover-ups by a TVK candidate for Dharapuram. The complaint stems from a purported video where the candidate, P Sathyabama, is heard claiming to have spent Rs 31 crore during the recent Assembly election. The DMK MLA S Austin submitted a pen drive with the video, urging the Election Commission of India to scrutinize Sathyabama's accounts and verify expenses against official statements and bank records.
