Delhi High Court Junk CIC Order On PMs' Foreign Trips, Cites National Security
Times of India · politics
The Delhi High Court has overturned a Central Information Commission order that directed the Indian Air Force to disclose flight records for foreign visits by Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Manmohan Singh. Justice Amit Mahajan ruled that such disclosure could compromise national security and the PM's safety. The court found the IAF was justified in denying access under the RTI Act's exemption for information that could jeopardize national security or a person's safety. The original RTI plea sought records of foreign visits on IAF aircraft from April 1, 2013, onwards.
