Sugarcane farmers in Shivamogga staged a protest on Tuesday, demanding the State government fix a remunerative price for their crop. Under the banner of the State Sugarcane Growers’ Coordination Committee, they submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister, highlighting the plight of farmers in North Karnataka who have been agitating for over a month. The farmers urged the government to immediately set the price at ₹5,500 per tonne and provide aid to drought-hit farmers. They also called for factories to begin crushing operations promptly amidst an unprecedented drought.

शिवमोग्गा में गन्ना किसानों ने मंगलवार को विरोध प्रदर्शन किया। उन्होंने राज्य सरकार से अपनी फसल के लिए लाभकारी मूल्य तय करने की मांग की। राज्य गन्ना कृषक समन्वय समिति के बैनर तले, उन्होंने मुख्यमंत्री को एक ज्ञापन सौंपा। इसमें उत्तर कर्नाटक के किसानों की दुर्दशा पर प्रकाश डाला गया, जो एक महीने से अधिक समय से आंदोलन कर रहे हैं। किसानों ने सरकार से तुरंत ₹5,500 प्रति टन कीमत तय करने और सूखा प्रभावित किसानों को सहायता प्रदान करने का आग्रह किया। उन्होंने कारखानों से अभूतपूर्व सूखे के बीच तुरंत पेराई का काम शुरू करने का भी आह्वान किया।
