Bosnia Elections Use New Tech To Stop Dead Voters, But Results Unchanged
DW World · world
Bosnia and Herzegovina held elections on October 4 using new biometric fingerprint technology to prevent votes from being cast in the names of deceased or absent individuals. Turnout dropped to a record low of just over 40%, partly due to the old rigging methods no longer being effective. Despite the increased transparency, the elections saw the same three nationalist parties win along ethnic lines: the SNSD among Serbs, the SDA among Bosniaks, and the HDZ BiH among Croats.
