Batrisa Sinhasan: 15th Century Throne Symbolizes Nandapur's Royal Past
Times of India · interesting
The Batrisa Sinhasan, a 32-step throne in Koraput's Nandapur, is a significant remnant of a medieval kingdom established by the Sailavamsi dynasty. Believed to be named after King Vikramaditya's legendary throne, it was used by Nandapur rulers for administration and delivering judgments. Inscriptions from 1435 and 1437 AD link it to Pratapa Ganga Raju's rule. The throne's historical importance extends beyond legend, connecting to the political succession of Silavamsi and Suryavamsi rulers before the capital shifted to Jeypore in the 17th century.
