Mentally Challenged Woman Rescued After 5 Years of Confinement, Shifted to Shelter Home

A 32-year-old mentally challenged woman, allegedly confined by her stepmother for five years, has been rescued by police and health officials in Sundargarh district. She was found malnourished and neglected in a poorly ventilated room. Following her rescue, she was shifted to Astha Gruha, a shelter home, for treatment and rehabilitation. Police have warned her stepmother about the alleged ill-treatment and are continuing their investigation into the prolonged confinement.

सुंदरगढ़ जिले में पुलिस और स्वास्थ्य अधिकारियों ने एक 32 वर्षीय मानसिक रूप से विक्षिप्त महिला को बचाया है, जिसे कथित तौर पर उसकी सौतेली माँ ने पाँच साल से बंधक बना रखा था। वह एक हवादार न होने वाले कमरे में कुपोषित और उपेक्षित पाई गई। बचाए जाने के बाद, उसे इलाज और पुनर्वास के लिए एक आश्रय गृह, आस्था गृह में ले जाया गया। पुलिस ने उसकी सौतेली माँ को कथित दुर्व्यवहार के बारे में चेतावनी दी है और लंबे समय तक बंधक बनाए रखने की जाँच जारी रखे हुए है।
