The Indian government has stated that capping fuel sales is not permitted and has instructed private retailers to cease the practice. Petroleum secretary Neeraj Mittal confirmed that the government's stance, which was previously communicated during the West Asia war, remains unchanged. This statement follows reports of private oil retailers Nayara Energy and Jio-BP rationing diesel sales due to surging crude prices and static pump prices. The government is in contact with these retailers to address the issue of fuel availability.
