Supreme Court Orders Centre to Form Committee on Unethical Pharma Marketing

The Supreme Court has directed the Centre to establish a committee to review suggestions and recommend measures against unethical marketing practices by pharmaceutical companies. This order comes in response to a plea seeking court-mandated guidelines until a comprehensive law is enacted. The Centre had previously informed the court about forming a three-member panel to propose a statutory framework. The committee will consider various inputs before submitting its recommendations to the Union of India. The court will review the Centre's compliance affidavit on January 29.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने केंद्र सरकार को निर्देश दिया है कि वह दवा कंपनियों की अनैतिक मार्केटिंग प्रथाओं की समीक्षा करने और उपायों की सिफारिश करने के लिए एक समिति बनाए। यह आदेश एक याचिका के जवाब में आया है जिसमें एक व्यापक कानून बनने तक अदालत द्वारा अनिवार्य दिशानिर्देशों की मांग की गई थी। केंद्र ने पहले अदालत को एक वैधानिक ढांचा प्रस्तावित करने के लिए तीन-सदस्यीय पैनल बनाने के बारे में सूचित किया था। समिति भारत सरकार को अपनी सिफारिशें सौंपने से पहले विभिन्न इनपुट पर विचार करेगी। अदालत 29 जनवरी को केंद्र के अनुपालन हलफनामे की समीक्षा करेगी।
