UPI Charges Challenged in Supreme Court

A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court challenging the Centre's new charges on high-value commercial UPI transactions, arguing it could impact common citizens. Advocate Anjan Datta seeks to scrap finance ministry notifications introducing a revised framework for UPI merchant transactions above Rs 2,000 from October 15. The government clarified that a 0.4% merchant discount rate will apply only to specified transactions above Rs 2,000, capped at Rs 300.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट में एक याचिका दायर की गई है। इसमें केंद्र सरकार के महंगे UPI ट्रांजैक्शन पर नए चार्ज को चुनौती दी गई है। याचिकाकर्ता का कहना है कि इससे आम लोगों पर असर पड़ेगा। वकील अंजन दत्ता ने वित्त मंत्रालय की उन सूचनाओं को रद्द करने की मांग की है, जो 15 अक्टूबर से 2,000 रुपये से ऊपर के मर्चेंट UPI ट्रांजैक्शन के लिए नया ढांचा लाती हैं। सरकार ने साफ किया है कि 0.4% का MDR सिर्फ खास ट्रांजैक्शन पर लगेगा।
