आंध्र प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री एन चंद्रबाबू नायडू ने वादा किया है कि टीडीपी आने वाले स्थानीय निकाय चुनावों में पार्टी टिकटों का 34 प्रतिशत से अधिक बीसी उम्मीदवारों को देगी। यह घोषणा ऐसे समय में आई है जब सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने स्थानीय निकायों में बीसी के लिए 34 प्रतिशत आरक्षण बहाल करने के राज्य सरकार के प्रयास को राहत देने से इनकार कर दिया था। अदालत ने सीटों के आरक्षण के लिए कानूनी आधार को चुनौती देने वाली सरकार की याचिका खारिज कर दी थी।
