At 14 years old, Elijah Buckwald bravely climbed onto an overturned pickup truck to assist an elderly couple trapped inside after a serious crash on Oregon's Santiam Pass. While emergency responders were en route, Buckwald opened the passenger door and helped stabilize it, allowing others to safely extract the couple. Remarkably, neither occupant sustained injuries. Two years later, now 16, Buckwald has received Scouting America’s prestigious Honor Medal for his heroic and lifesaving actions.
