All 10 Rajya Sabha Candidates From Uttar Pradesh Set To Be Elected Unopposed

Times of India · politics

Ten candidates, including eight from the BJP and two from the Samajwadi Party, are set to be elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh. The Samajwadi Party decided against fielding a third candidate, avoiding a contest and allowing the BJP to secure its eight seats and the SP its two. This outcome means the formal declaration will occur after nomination scrutiny. The unopposed election avoids a complex numbers game ahead of upcoming state assembly elections, allowing parties to conserve resources.
