The Reserve Bank of India's initial open market operation sale of the year saw a robust response, attracting bids of ₹66,590 crore against the ₹50,000 crore target. The central bank accepted bonds at yields higher than market rates to absorb surplus liquidity. This move aims to align the weighted average call rate with the policy rate. The operation precedes a ₹28,000 crore weekly bond auction and a ₹25,000 crore OMO sale scheduled for September 21.
