Bond Supply May Outweigh Demand, Push Yields Higher
Economic Times Markets · stocks
Bond yields are expected to rise in the latter half of the fiscal year due to increased government borrowing and potential Reserve Bank of India open market operations. IDFC First Bank anticipates demand for government securities will fall short of supply, citing elevated US yields and domestic inflation. Banks are expected to provide only replacement demand due to strong credit growth. The 10-year government bond yield has already risen to 7.16%, with expectations of further increases.
