Karnataka Sees 19% Rise in Rural Jobs Amid Drought Conditions

Karnataka generated a record two crore person-days of employment under the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) scheme between July 1 and, a 19% increase from last year. This rise in rural employment occurred despite a significant rainfall deficit attributed to the El Nino effect. The scheme provided employment to a larger number of rural poor, Dalits, disadvantaged unskilled workers, and landless labourers. Measures like issuing new job cards and e-KYC verification have helped hundreds of families find local employment, preventing migration.

विक्षित भारत-गारंटी फॉर रोजगार और आजीविका मिशन (ग्रामीण) योजना के तहत कर्नाटक में 1 जुलाई से दो करोड़ व्यक्ति-दिवस रोजगार का रिकॉर्ड बना है, जो पिछले साल से 19% अधिक है। अल नीनो प्रभाव के कारण हुई भारी बारिश की कमी के बावजूद ग्रामीण रोजगार में यह वृद्धि हुई है। इस योजना ने बड़ी संख्या में ग्रामीण गरीबों, दलितों, वंचित अकुशल श्रमिकों और भूमिहीन मजदूरों को रोजगार प्रदान किया। नई जॉब कार्ड जारी करने और ई-केवाईसी सत्यापन जैसे उपायों ने सैकड़ों परिवारों को स्थानीय रोजगार खोजने में मदद की है, जिससे पलायन रुका है।
