सुप्रीम कोर्ट और इलाहाबाद हाई कोर्ट ने उत्तर प्रदेश के गन्ना किसानों के ₹1,936 करोड़ के बकाया भुगतान का आदेश दिया है, जो लगभग 30 साल से रुका हुआ था। इस राशि में ₹1,087 करोड़ मूल गन्ना बकाया और ₹849.5 करोड़ ब्याज शामिल है। हाई कोर्ट ने कहा कि कोई ब्याज वसूल नहीं किया गया था। सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने यूपी सरकार की ब्याज माफ करने की याचिका खारिज कर दी और देरी से भुगतान पर अनिवार्य 15% ब्याज को बरकरार रखा।
