Ireland Soccer Players Again Refuse Handshakes With Israel Team

Hindustan Times · sports

Ireland players wore black armbands and bowed their heads during the Israeli national anthem before their second Nations League soccer match on Sunday. Goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher pointedly avoided shaking hands with Israel's captain, repeating actions from the previous match. The game was moved to a neutral venue in Serbia with no fans present due to calls for a boycott. This follows a previous FAI motion to ban Israel from competitions and pressure from home for players to boycott.
