Delhi Pollution Study Identifies Major Sources Unclear, Uses Outdated Data
Hindustan Times · environment
Delhi's first source-based air pollution study in three years, conducted by IITM, faces challenges in identifying a significant portion of pollution sources. Particles formed in the air, labelled "secondary sources," constituted between 29.3% and 42.2% of PM2.5 estimates, exceeding vehicle emissions. Officials admit they lack a system to trace the origin of these secondary aerosols. Furthermore, the lab's total PM2.5 readings were considerably lower than those recorded by Delhi's monitors, with officials citing teething issues.
