Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu's suggestion to reduce permanent jobs at the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) and favour volunteers has caused concern in Tirupati. The temple town's economy heavily relies on TTD employment. Workers on contract and outsourcing basis are worried, and ruling party leaders are surprised by the statement. Former TTD chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy criticised the remark, stating it showed a lack of understanding of the TTD's function.
