HYDRAA Busts Illegal Water Racket, Finds Borewells in Bedrooms

Times of India · environment

The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has cracked down on an illegal water extraction and supply racket around Sunnam Cheruvu. The operation uncovered 15 borewells drilled inside residential homes, including in bedrooms and kitchens, connected by underground pipelines for commercial sale. This crackdown followed complaints of water being illegally extracted and sold to hotels and hostels. HYDRAA removed the borewells and is taking action against the pipelines, warning that some extracted water contained hazardous contaminants like cadmium, lead, and nickel, posing serious health risks.
