A Maryland couple has transformed their 116-acre hunting property into a protected wildlife haven named Tavern Creek Farm. Over two decades, Louise and John Durocher shifted from farming to restoring the land with native plants, creating meadows, woodlands, and wetlands. This permanent conservation easement, established with the Eastern Shore Land Conservancy, prevents future development. The initiative safeguards wildlife habitat and improves water quality in Tavern Creek and the Chesapeake Bay.
