Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced that garbage mountains at city landfill sites are shrinking, with 100 acres reclaimed in the past 18 months. She stated that almost all legacy waste at Okhla predating January 2025 has been processed. The government is now focusing on processing the 3,000-4,000 metric tonnes of fresh waste generated daily to prevent new accumulations. Foundation stones were laid for new waste processing facilities at Okhla, Ghazipur, and Singhola, aiming to convert waste into resources like biogas and manure.
