Mexico Violence Displaces Over Half Million Households

Violence has forced over half a million Mexican households to flee their homes in the last five years, according to new data from Mexico's national statistics agency, INEGI. This displacement affected approximately 1.6 million people across the country. States like Zacatecas, Morelos, Michoacan, Queretaro, and Colima reported the highest rates of displacement due to cartel violence. This marks the first comprehensive government data on internal displacement, offering a crucial snapshot of a crisis previously pieced together by civil society groups.

पिछले पाँच सालों में हिंसा के कारण मेक्सिको के पाँच लाख से ज़्यादा परिवार अपना घर छोड़ने को मजबूर हुए हैं। INEGI के नए आँकड़ों के मुताबिक, इस वजह से देश भर में करीब 16 लाख लोग विस्थापित हुए हैं। ज़कातेकास, मोरेलोस, मिचोआकान, क्वेरेटारो और कोलिमा जैसे राज्यों में कार्टेल हिंसा के कारण सबसे ज़्यादा लोग विस्थापित हुए हैं। यह आंतरिक विस्थापन पर पहला सरकारी आँकड़ा है।
