Cyclone Arnab Averts Loss of Life in Yanam Due to Precautionary Measures

Cyclone Arnab made landfall near Yanam on Wednesday morning, bringing gale-force winds of up to 150 kmph and heavy rainfall. Precautionary measures by the Puducherry district administration successfully prevented any loss of life in the region. The cyclone caused significant destruction, including the destruction of over 101 hectares of paddy crops, uprooting of more than 500 trees, and damage to numerous electric poles and transformers. Additionally, thatched-roof houses, cattle sheds, government buildings, and fishing boats sustained damage, while mobile and internet services were disrupted.

चक्रवात अर्नाब बुधवार सुबह यानम के पास टकराया, जिससे 150 किमी प्रति घंटे तक की तूफानी हवाएं चलीं और भारी बारिश हुई। पुडुचेरी जिला प्रशासन द्वारा किए गए एहतियाती उपायों से क्षेत्र में किसी भी जानमाल के नुकसान को सफलतापूर्वक रोका गया। चक्रवात से काफी विनाश हुआ, जिसमें 101 हेक्टेयर से अधिक धान की फसलें नष्ट हो गईं, 500 से अधिक पेड़ उखड़ गए, और कई बिजली के खंभे और ट्रांसफार्मर क्षतिग्रस्त हो गए। इसके अलावा, फूस की छत वाले घर, पशुशालाएं, सरकारी भवन और मछली पकड़ने वाली नावें क्षतिग्रस्त हो गईं, जबकि मोबाइल और इंटरनेट सेवाएं बाधित हुईं।
