OBC Candidate With Higher Marks Denied Selection Over Age Relaxation

An OBC candidate from Tripura, Jayant Debnath, who used age relaxation to become eligible for CAPFs recruitment, was not selected despite scoring higher than a general category candidate. The cut-off for OBC candidates was 60, higher than the general category's 46.26, due to limited OBC vacancies. The Centre argued that candidates availing age relaxation cannot migrate to the general category, as per recruitment rules.
