Supreme Court to Hear Pleas Challenging Election Commissioner's Decisions and 2023 Law

The Supreme Court will hear approximately three dozen petitions challenging the functioning of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the Election Commission. These petitions question the process of SIR of voter lists, the commission's decision-making methods, and the 2023 law governing the appointment of election commissioners. Petitioners seek an impartial investigation and a stay on SIR. The Election Commission has filed a joint affidavit refuting the allegations, stating that decisions related to SIR were made with the consensus of all three commissioners.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट मुख्य चुनाव आयुक्त ज्ञानेश कुमार और चुनाव आयोग के कामकाज को चुनौती देने वाली करीब तीन दर्जन याचिकाओं पर सुनवाई करेगा। ये याचिकाएं मतदाता सूची की एस.आई.आर. की प्रक्रिया, आयोग की निर्णय लेने की विधियों और चुनाव आयुक्तों की नियुक्ति को नियंत्रित करने वाले 2023 कानून पर सवाल उठाती हैं। याचिकाकर्ता निष्पक्ष जांच और एस.आई.आर. पर रोक लगाने की मांग कर रहे हैं। चुनाव आयोग ने एक संयुक्त हलफनामा दायर कर आरोपों का खंडन किया है, जिसमें कहा गया है कि एस.आई.आर. से संबंधित निर्णय सभी तीन आयुक्तों की सहमति से लिए गए थे।
