Authorities have increased security in New Delhi, deploying thousands of additional police officers ahead of a planned protest by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). The youth-led movement is demanding the resignation of India's chief election commissioner, Gyanesh Kumar, over the removal of over 130 million names from the electoral roll. The rally was called after two CJP leaders were jailed for allegedly trespassing. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke accused the government of hypocrisy and denounced police crackdowns, stating the ruling party itself engaged in decades of protests.
