Parel Church Elevated to Basilica Status, Becoming Second in Changanassery Archdiocese

The Holy See has officially elevated the Parel Marian Pilgrimage Centre, under the Archdiocese of Changanassery, to the status of a basilica. The church complex will now be known as the Marth Mariam Immaculate Conception Shrine Basilica. This recognition was granted by the Vatican’s Dicastery for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments. The new status will be officially announced on November 21, the consecration anniversary of Parel Marth Mariam Valiyapally. This elevation is considered a significant blessing and a proud moment for the archdiocese and the Syro-Malabar Church.
