Bengal CM Orders Probe Into Puja Stampede Deaths; Opposition Blames BJP

Following the deaths of 19 people in a Durga Puja stampede in Kolkata, the Mamata All India Trinamool Congress (MAITC) has criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). MAITC alleged involvement of BJP leaders and a relative of the chief minister in the puja. The chief minister has ordered a high-level judicial inquiry into the incident, with the roles of organizers and police under scrutiny. Separately, MAITC and Left parties accused Hindutva groups of ransacking Left book stalls, which police removed citing lack of permission.
