Azam Khan, Abdullah Khan Sentencing: High Court Reserves Verdict; State Seeks Life Imprisonment

The Allahabad High Court has reserved its verdict on criminal revision pleas filed by Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan and his son Abdullah Azam Khan concerning their conviction in a two-PAN card case. The state government has also filed a plea seeking to enhance their sentences to life imprisonment. Azam Khan challenged his conviction and a 10-year sentence, while Abdullah challenged his seven-year sentence. The case stems from a complaint filed in December 2019 alleging Abdullah held two PAN cards with different birth dates.

इलाहाबाद हाई कोर्ट ने समाजवादी पार्टी के नेता आजम खान और उनके बेटे अब्दुल्ला आजम खान की दो पैन कार्ड मामले में सज़ा के खिलाफ दायर क्रिमिनल रिवीजन याचिकाओं पर अपना फैसला सुरक्षित रख लिया है। राज्य सरकार ने भी उनकी सज़ा को उम्रकैद तक बढ़ाने की अर्ज़ी दायर की है। आजम खान ने अपनी सज़ा और 10 साल की सज़ा को चुनौती दी थी, जबकि अब्दुल्ला ने अपनी सात साल की सज़ा को चुनौती दी थी। यह मामला दिसंबर 2019 में दर्ज की गई एक शिकायत से जुड़ा है, जिसमें आरोप लगाया गया था कि अब्दुल्ला के पास अलग-अलग जन्मतिथियों वाले दो पैन कार्ड थे।
