Aaj Tak · world

Between early 2026 and October, Russia reported the killing of approximately 3,500 bears, with the highest numbers in Siberia and the Far East. Siberian regions saw around 2,200 bears culled, while the Far East accounted for over 1,100. These actions were largely a response to increased bear incursions into human settlements and subsequent attacks, some of which were fatal. Authorities have targeted bears perceived as threats to public safety, raising concerns about the growing bear population and human coexistence.
