Ukraine Completes FREYJA Missile Shield Part, Awaits European Components
Times of India · world
Ukraine has finished its contribution to the multinational FREYJA missile defence system, designed to intercept ballistic missiles. The programme, a collaborative effort involving Ukraine and ten European nations, is now awaiting critical radar, seeker, and command-and-control components from its partners. This initiative aims to provide an alternative to US-made Patriot systems amidst ongoing Russian attacks. Initial testing is targeted for late 2026, with battlefield deployment planned for 2027, contingent on timely delivery and integration of the European technologies.
