The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court has directed the Tamil Nadu government to submit a comprehensive report on disciplinary proceedings against government employees. This comes after a serious view was taken regarding delays in appointing inquiry officers for a case involving misappropriation of over ₹2.35 crore. The funds were meant for the welfare of Adi Dravidar Hostel students in Sivaganga district between 2017 and 2023. The court was hearing a PIL concerning the alleged swindling of money by officials and staff, with eight Tahsildars reportedly involved.
