CAQM Reviews Punjab's Paddy Stubble Management Efforts

A high-level team from the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) visited Punjab to review paddy stubble management measures. The team assessed in-situ and ex-situ strategies, including machinery availability for farmers and utilisation in thermal and biomass plants. CAQM directed authorities to achieve co-firing targets in power plants and ensure compliance with emission norms. They emphasised intensified efforts to provide farmers with timely access to machinery and strengthen ecosystems to minimise stubble burning incidents. Proactive monitoring and timely resolution of operational gaps were also stressed.

वायु गुणवत्ता प्रबंधन आयोग (CAQM) की एक उच्च-स्तरीय टीम ने धान की पराली प्रबंधन के उपायों की समीक्षा के लिए पंजाब का दौरा किया। टीम ने किसानों के लिए मशीनरी की उपलब्धता और थर्मल व बायोमास संयंत्रों में इसके उपयोग सहित इन-सीटू और एक्स-सीटू रणनीतियों का आकलन किया। CAQM ने अधिकारियों को बिजली संयंत्रों में सह-ईंधन लक्ष्यों को प्राप्त करने और उत्सर्जन मानदंडों का अनुपालन सुनिश्चित करने का निर्देश दिया। उन्होंने किसानों को समय पर मशीनरी उपलब्ध कराने और पराली जलाने की घटनाओं को कम करने के लिए पारिस्थितिकी तंत्र को मजबूत करने के प्रयासों को तेज करने पर जोर दिया। परिचालन कमियों की सक्रिय निगरानी और समय पर समाधान पर भी जोर दिया गया।
