Rupee Hits 6-Week High Against Dollar on Jio IPO Inflows

The Indian rupee strengthened significantly, gaining 53 paise to close at 94.38 against the US dollar. This surge was driven by foreign currency inflows from Reliance Industries' Jio Platforms IPO and support from the Reserve Bank of India. Despite pressure from falling domestic equities and high crude oil prices, the rupee recovered to a level not seen in six weeks. The Jio IPO, valued at Rs 30,213 crore, saw rapid subscription, contributing to increased dollar supply in the local market.

भारतीय रुपया अमेरिकी डॉलर के मुकाबले 53 पैसे बढ़कर 94.38 पर बंद हुआ। यह उछाल रिलायंस इंडस्ट्रीज के जियो प्लेटफॉर्म्स आईपीओ से विदेशी मुद्रा की आमद और रिज़र्व बैंक ऑफ इंडिया के समर्थन से आया। घरेलू शेयर बाज़ारों में गिरावट और कच्चे तेल की ऊंची कीमतों के दबाव के बावजूद, रुपया छह हफ़्ते के उच्चतम स्तर पर पहुँच गया। 30,213 करोड़ रुपये के जियो आईपीओ को तेज़ी से सब्सक्रिप्शन मिला, जिससे स्थानीय बाज़ार में डॉलर की आपूर्ति बढ़ी।
