A farmer named Sonu in Ballia has found significant profit in cultivating water chestnuts, a crop that requires minimal effort and time. He has been growing the crop for five years on ten bighas of land, harvesting approximately 10 quintals daily. The cultivation process involves sowing seeds in water and transplanting them like paddy crops. Fruits begin to appear within three months, though pests and diseases require attention. During the Chhath festival, water chestnuts can fetch up to ₹4,000 per quintal, with individual bigha yields reaching ₹1 lakh.

बलिया के सोनू नाम के एक किसान ने सिंघाड़े की खेती में अच्छा मुनाफा पाया है। यह ऐसी फसल है जिसमें बहुत कम मेहनत और समय लगता है। वह पिछले पाँच सालों से दस बीघा ज़मीन पर इसकी खेती कर रहे हैं और रोज़ाना करीब 10 क्विंटल की फसल निकालते हैं। सिंघाड़े उगाने के लिए बीजों को पानी में बोया जाता है और धान की तरह रोपा जाता है। तीन महीने में फल आने लगते हैं, लेकिन कीड़े और बीमारियों पर ध्यान देना पड़ता है। छठ पूजा के दौरान सिंघाड़े ₹4,000 प्रति क्विंटल तक बिक जाते हैं, और एक बीघा से ₹1 लाख तक की कमाई हो जाती है।
